Description
The timber on this tract was recently harvested, except for a streamside management zone (SMZ) containing mature trees. This small stream crosses diagonally across the southern portion. Loblolly pine seedlings that were hand-planted will be 2 years old this coming winter. The entire site, except for the SMZ was chemically treated to ensure seedling survivability. The plant community now growing after the chemical application is outstanding for deer, turkey and other ground-nesting birds. I actually heard a Bobwhite Quail whistle when I first visited the property. Its topography, shape, and current plant composition makes this land a nice hunting tract. Frontage along Highway 28 makes this land a good option for a rural homesite or weekend retreat.
