Some of the best hunting in Portage County is located in and around the Dewey Marsh. Across the street is this massive 5,500-acre state-owned swamp that is well known for harboring mature bucks. Because of its size, many young bucks can grow to maturity and populate the surrounding private lands. This giant parcel has agriculture on the western and northern boundaries giving it everything a deer needs for maximum nutrition, antler building, and age. Owning and hunting large parcels is an awesome experience but many lack the necessary access within the borders to allow you to get to the best spots based on wind direction, etc. That is not the case on this gem as there are a couple of miles of gravel roads with breaker rock underlayment! You could literally drive a semi down these roads any time of year and not so much as put a dent in them! There are three turn arounds that can easily accommodate logging equipment including semis. These could also be used for parking large campers for hunting camp headquarters. The area has plenty of year-round recreational activities such as the popular Lake Dubay with over 9000 acres of beautiful water fun. Just down the interstate is one of the top golf courses in the country, Sentry World! Waupaca is close by with its famous chain of lakes and much more.
