THE STUFF THAT DREAMS ARE MADE OF

A few years ago I started dreaming about trying to acquire a recreational or getaway hunting property. With four kids ages 8, 10, 15 and 19 I thought this would be a worthwhile achievement for family enrichment as well as a good investment. Exactly 10 months ago I finally put together a wish list; half wooded, half tillable, a creek, river or pond, less than an hour away from my home, and many other ‘wants’ as well. Next, I made a list of four real estate agents who advertise that they specialize in such properties. I reached out to each agent via a mailed letter of introduction and similar email asking them to call me to verify they received the list of my goals and hopefully to tell me about any available properties that might fit the bill. Out of the four agents I contacted only two called back. And of those two only one called again (ever) and suggested we meet face-to-face so that we could both share our goals and objectives, as well as to get a chance to meet each other. That agent was Brent Grosse of Whitetail Properties. Not only did Brent immediately begin the task of assessing my goals and professionally educating me about the process, he also shared numerous beneficial insights into what it would take to achieve my goals. Within a matter of days Brent began sending me meaningful information on available properties; maps, pictures, pricing, and much more. Soon we were riding his ATV through various farms exploring properties while all the while Brent was carefully accessing what drew me towards certain properties and what turned me off. It wasn’t long before Brent had such a good idea of what I would accept that he would only send me data on properties which really did fit my bill. Yet even when I said no, he never wavered but on the contrary encouraged me to not settle for something I did not feel comfortable with and to hang in there and not get discouraged. Then one day Brent informed me he felt he found the perfect spot. It was a truly picturesque property partially wooded, partially tilled, with a beautiful meandering trout stream running through it and was filled with deer, turkey, pheasants, coyotes and more. As we neared making an offer and up to the time of closing Brent provided me with the type of excellent advice that only someone with his years of  experience could provide, advice that would prevent future pitfalls and regrets. But it did not end at the closing. Indeed, as soon as the deal was done, Brent was placing trail cams on the property and mapping wildlife movement for me. He even helped me find contractors and land movers to ready a building sight and build trails- all after the deal was closed. One day while visiting my newly acquired property with my two youngest children, in the distance the kids saw Brent moving around checking trail cameras. My daughter asked, “Dad, who is that man?” I said, “honey that’s the man that helped find this place for us.” To which my daughter replied, “So what does he do daddy?” After pausing for a few seconds it dawned on me what Brent Grosse really does do and so I earnestly replied, “Honey, that man makes dreams come true, that’s what he does." While the cabin is at present only in its beginning stages, and there is still much work to do, we have already been able to enjoy fresh trout taken from the stream as well as many pheasants harvested by my son and I. Better still, I can’t express what it was like a few weeks ago to be with my son when he harvested the first deer off our own place. And I too quite enjoyed the following week when I bagged a nice 8-pointer off my own property. As I was sitting in the deer blind the other day enjoying nature I remember being overcome with a deep sense of gratitude, of feeling so blessed by the Almighty that this farm had somehow come to fruition. And then it immediately dawned on me that had it not been for Brent Grosse it would never have happened.  It happened because Brent Grosse truly loves what he does, genuinely understands the outdoors and hunting, and most important cares so very deeply about his customers. In short, Brent has a passion for doing good, and helping others and it clearly shows. As an owner of a business with clients worldwide, I think I’m pretty good at reading people and certainly know the energy and effort it takes to ‘get the job done.” As such, I can say without any hesitation that if someone in Northeast Iowa is looking to achieve what I was able to achieve, then they need look no further than Brent Grosse. I would recommend Brent to anyone because I know that he is a consummate professional, a true gentleman and results oriented, or like I told my 10 year old daughter, Brent Grosse makes dreams come true. (Megan and the kids were making fun of me when they heard I asked you what a side by side was but were impressed that you answered with a straight face).

We really did pack a lot in to a short period of time to be able to close on December 9th. That was good going.
