This property is located eight miles south of Oblong, on N 200th St. It has recently been enrolled into the WRP program, and the renovations have been completed. This will be a wildlife paradise in a few short years when the native grasses and trees start to mature. The diverse habitat will provide cover for the local upland birds, wild turkeys and whitetail deer. Three water control areas will provide phenomenal roosting for migratory birds, as well as a place to feed and raise little ones. The whole property will provide great nesting cover for turkeys and other birds, along with security cover for does to raise their fawns. As the hardwood planting grows and matures over the years, it too, will provide great cover and an additional food source as the oaks get bigger. The current owner and the local NRCS office have agreed that the new owner will be allowed to plant 5% of food plots, those locations will just need to be approved through the NRCS office. This is a great opportunity to get involved in the early stages of this planting and manipulate the property to fit your needs. There are a couple of waterways that will help funnel deer through the property as a natural travel corridor, and the Embarras River is less than a quarter mile south of the property.
